Race Reports

Augusta Half Marathon
Author Last Post
We had beautiful weather for the third annual Augusta Half Marathon on Sunday, 24 October. The temperature was near 50 at the 7:00 start, perhaps near 60 by 9:00. (The average time for the 669 finishers was 2:04:29, my time was 1:50:11.) The race begins in downtown Augusta, the course goes west and north, then makes its way back to downtown. There are some hills but not enough to be truly bothersome, the Governor's Cup Marathon in Columbia is certainly hillier. Leo Kormanik, a 27-year-old chiropractic student won the race with a course record 1:09:36. He hopes to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in 2012. This is a nicely run event with a good outdoor expo/packet pickup the day before, and a good outdoor post-race party, I recommend this race for anyone who wants a nearby half-marathon.
