Race Reports

Famous Idaho Potato Marathon
Author Last Post
I ran the Famous Potato Idaho Marathon in Boise, ID on Saturday, the 18th of May. My time was about 9 minutes slower than my most recent marathons as I chipped 4:21:26. They bused us 13 miles outside of town to Lucky Peak State Park, then we ran back in. The second half of the marathon was an out and back. The weather cooperated as temperatures were in the 40s and 50s during the race. Although Boise is surrounded by mountains the course was not very hilly. The scenery was good, especially when we ran near the Boise River. The only downside of the race was that the course was congested at times, especially on the out and back portion, much of which took place on a fairly narrow biking/hiking path which was not closed to other traffic. Boise is a very nice city, and easy to navigate. I walked from the airport to my motel (about 3/4 mile), and walked about 2.5 miles from the race finish to my motel. (I would have taken a bus for that part but their Saturday bus service is really sporadic.) This was my 45th state but marked the first time I was given a baked potato after the race. They really are big on potatoes in Idaho.
